Word from the Lord to Build Up, Encourage and Comfort
Philippians
4:6&7
“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and
in everything by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving,
continue to make your wants known to God.”
Do you see these verses for what they really are? It is a loving command from
our Father Who loves you so very much. In other words He is saying “Don’t
worry! Don’t let yourself become anxious about anything that you are facing!
Please draw upon Me. Spend time with Me. Recognize Who I Am! I am God! I am in
control of everything! If I would take My Hand off of the Universe for even one
minute, it would fall apart. Can you understand that I am fully capable of
taking care of you and everything about you?”
God can say to you ‘Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything,’ but if
you don’t spend time with Him and learn Who HE really Is, you will not be able
to obey this loving command.’ So many times we think that God has failed us
when it is really our lack of taking time to know Who He Is. Therefore we are
not able to have faith and trust in Him. We want God to work like we think He
should and when we think He should even when we really don’t put Him first in
our lives. It is as if we think we are God’s counselor and tell Him how to
work and when He doesn’t work like it seems so logical to us, we think He has
failed us.
But God so desires that we draw close to Him by spending time with Him. He knows
that if we desire to know Him, to seek Him, that we will find Him more than
enough! When we get to know Him, we begin to realize that we really don’t have
to ‘fret’ or ‘worry’, we really don’t. We will understand how much He
really loves us and how much He desires to bless us! We will be able to take
everything, every circumstance and situation to Him in prayer. We will take
these things to Him with thanksgiving in our heart because we will know that He
hears us and will answer.
God says that if we will not ‘fret’ or ‘worry’ or be ‘anxious’ but
just come to Him in prayer that He will place His Peace in our heart in the
midst of our need or situation. This is Peace that passes all human
understanding and it will guard our hearts and our minds so that they can’t be
anxious. This is what faith and trust do. Oh, if we could just lay our needs and
situations in His Hands or at His Feet and so trust Him, we would find the Joy
of the Lord in our hearts. The Joy of the Lord is our Strength! Instead of
‘fretting’, ‘worrying’ or being ‘anxious’ we would have the Joy of
the Lord because we would know that God will take care of everything. Everything
that we take to Him in prayer with faith and trust.
This is a command from God with a promise from God. Can you obey this command
from our Loving, Awesome God? Let faith and trust in God develop, so you can
experience these blessings He has for you!
